Welcome to the TFA of Scotland
The STFA has evolved from the Scottish Tenant Farmers Action Group which was formed in 2001 in response to the Scottish Executive’s tenancy reform proposals in the Agricultural Holdings (Scotland) Bill which was passed in March 2003 and has recently become law.

The Scottish Tenant Farmers Association seeks to build upon the work done by the Action Group in supporting and enhancing the position of tenants within the Scottish landlord-tenant system. It represents and advises members on all aspects of agricultural tenancy and ancillary matters.

It aims to improve the professional and technical knowledge of its members, to encourage the flow of new tenancies onto the market and to help the farming industry understand and best apply the existing and new agricultural tenancy legislation.

Basic Function STFA urges tenants to respond to Parliament's call for views on tenancy matters as part of the Agricultural Holdings Bill This is an opportunity for individuals to have their say on tenancy mattersas the Parliament starts reviewing the operation of tenancy legislation. Views on the proposals should be submitted to the Committee by Friday 16 December 2011. Responses should be sent to racce.committee@scottish.parliament.uk Hard Copies should be addressed to: Rural Affairs, Climate Change and Environment Committee Room T3.40 The Scottish Parliament Edinburgh EH99 1SP

STFA News Releases
CAUTIOUS WELCOME FOR LANDOWNERS’ INITIATIVE
The Scottish Tenant Farmers Association welcomes yesterday’s announcement of the joint initiative by SL&E, NFUS, the Forestry Commission and the Crown Estate to encourage new people into agricultural and land based industries as a much needed positive step forward. For some time now STFA has been calling for opportunities for new entrants into agriculture and it is heartening to see that the land-owning organisations are at last getting together to assist a new generation of farmers into the industry.
STFA CALLS FOR TENANTS TO SUBMIT VIEWS TO PARLIAMENT
The Rural Affairs, Climate Change and Environment Committee (RACCE) yesterday issued a call for views from organisations and individuals on the Scottish Government’s plans to amend legislation relating to succession and rent review.
STFA SPEAKS TO PARLIAMENT
The Scottish Tenant Farmers Association has broadly welcomed the principles behind the EU Commission’s proposed reforms to the CAP. However, STFA told the committee that it had reservations over much of the detail which, if implemented, could have severe consequences to Scottish agriculture in general and the tenanted sector in particular.
